Where Your Donations Go : Supporting Muzzle-Free Assessments in Tasmania

Every garment donated to Hoomans Helping Hounds carries more than fabric — it carries opportunity.

Thanks to community donations and purchases through our boutique, we are able to direct funding toward muzzle-free behavioural assessments with the RSPCA in Tasmania.

For many greyhounds and rescue dogs, a muzzle requirement can significantly limit their adoptability. While muzzles have historically been mandated due to industry settings, they do not reflect how many of these dogs live safely and gently in family homes.

A formal muzzle-free assessment through the RSPCA gives each dog the opportunity to be evaluated as an individual. When they pass, they can legally and confidently live muzzle-free in public — increasing their chances of adoption, improving their quality of life, and reducing long-term rescue burden.

These assessments are not automatically funded. Rescue organisations often carry the cost themselves.

That is where our community steps in.

When you donate mid-to-high quality fashion to us, or choose to purchase through our curated circular boutique, your dollars are redirected into practical, measurable outcomes like these assessments — not overhead, not executive wages, but direct impact for dogs transitioning into family homes.

In a state where animal rescue receives minimal government funding, it is the public who quietly power change.

Together, we are turning clothing into second chances — helping dogs step into the world freely, safely, and with dignity.
